Christmas time is always bittersweet for me. It's a time when I really miss my home country, Finland. Christmas just doesn't feel right without snow, Finnish Christmas Star Pastries, Christmas drink glögi, and most importantly my family. After not seeing my Mom and little sisters for 1.5 years, I was blessed to have them visit me for Christmas. The (second) best part, is that they always bring me LOTS of Finnish goodies; chocolate, tea and my favorite candies (licorice and sweet licorice called 'salmiakki'). We continued our European tradition and celebrated Jesus' Birth on Christmas Eve and opened our presents. Below are some of the sweet moments we captured from our 2016 Christmas Eve with a short video created by my sister Susanna. (5 minute read & Watch Video!) Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! Psalm 117 By the way, I think that Europeans get to open our presents on Christmas Eve, unlike the Americans who open on Christmas Day, because Santa Claus lives in Finland and he travels to all the Europeans countries first. Santa only makes it to the US by Christmas morning. (Somehow even through I live in America now, I still get the presents on European timing. haha) I love decorating and getting into the 'Christmas Spirit' with carols ringing in the background, and candles lighting up the house. I've been following Chip and Joanna Gaines the past few years, and I think I'm picking up on some of their decor ideas :) Below are some mobile shots (sorry, not the greatest quality) from our Christmas Dinner. What do you love most about the Christmas season?
